It’s set to be a massive few weeks for Athena’s rising star, Jessie Chambers. In less than two weeks, she will travel to California to take on USA number one, Alize Hernandez — a formidable test against one of the very best in her weight category. True to form, Jessie has never shied away from a challenge, consistently proving her willingness to dive straight into the deep end.
Jessie’s rise has been anything but conventional. After struggling to secure her debut bout in England, she was instead taken overseas with a team to Sweden, where she made her first appearance against a Swedish Select boxer. Despite facing an opponent with eight contests already under her belt, Jessie pushed her all the way, only losing on a split decision. She returned to Sweden in February for the prestigious Golden Girl Box Cup — and against the odds, struck gold in just her sixth career bout, defeating Fatima Salame of Nova BK in the final.

The busy schedule doesn’t stop there. On her return from the States, Chambers will step straight back into the ring to defend her East Midlands 54kg female youth belt on home soil. The current champion will make her first defence against Alexia Moore of Chesterfield ABC, set for the Lions Den show on Saturday, 13th September.
It’s remarkable to consider that Jessie only had her first bout in October, yet in less than a year she has already begun making waves on both sides of the Atlantic. With such a packed and high-profile season ahead, Athena is proud to back Jessie as she continues to show outstanding progress, determination, and fearlessness in the ring.
